Thompsons Solicitors, the UK’s most experienced personal injury and employment rights law firm, has secured approximately 6,800 sq ft of Grade A office space at Derwent House in Sheffield City Centre on a new 10-year lease.

Derwent House, a prestigious office building in the city’s heart, is surrounded by a vibrant mix of professional services, national retailers, and popular restaurants. The move reflects Thompsons’ commitment to providing exceptional legal services and fostering a first-class working environment for its staff.

The national law firm is relocating its Sheffield team from The Synergy Building on Campo Lane to the new premises, enhancing its ability to serve clients across South Yorkshire. This relocation aligns with Thompsons’ broader strategy of investing in modern and sustainable office spaces supporting its people and purpose.

Natalie Harvey, Regional Managing Partner at Thompsons Solicitors, said “This move supports our continued growth and enables us to serve our clients across South Yorkshire better. The new office space at Derwent House will provide an enhanced, more sustainable working environment for our dedicated Sheffield team and reflects our commitment to delivering the highest service standards.”

Richard Dunn, Head of Office Agency at Sanderson Weatherall, who acted on behalf of Thompsons Solicitors, added We are delighted to have secured this prime office space for Thompsons Solicitors. Derwent House offers a fantastic working environment in an excellent, easily accessible location with a wide range of nearby amenities.”

Rob Darrington of CPP, who advised the landlord, commented We are pleased to welcome Thompson Solicitors to Derwent House, which has proved popular with many similar businesses within the Professional Services. The building provides an excellent opportunity for businesses seeking high quality office space within a central location, close to many popular amenities, as well as being close to all public transport links”

Jonathan Gale of Adapt Real Estate, the asset manager for the landlord, said Since acquiring the building, we have undertaken a comprehensive asset management programme, improving the green credentials and energy performance of Derwent House, as well as improving on site amenities, such as the new Sky Garden for all the Tenants benefits and high speed broadband enabled throughout the building. This has proved popular with attracting new Tenants for the top floor and now Thompsons Solicitors, leaving just one full floor remaining”.

Established in 1921, Thompsons Solicitors represents clients in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with an associated firm in Scotland. With more than 800 staff across 18 offices, the firm remains steadfast in its mission to protect and advance the rights of working people.

Sanderson Weatherall represented Thompsons Solicitors in the deal, with CPP and Knight Frank acting as joint leasing agents for the Landlord.
