Sustainable improvements and their impact on property value

At the start of the year the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) released guidance outlining best practice for valuers to follow when considering sustainability within valuations. Partner in our Manchester office, Nick Heap discusses where the cost of sustainable improvements are being realised and in some instances, where they’re having little tangible impact in the market.

The Role of the Valuer

As part of our job as valuation professionals all our reports must comply with standards set out by the RICS, known as the Red Book of Global Standards. This requires us to have a working knowledge of the various ways in which sustainability & ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) factors can impact value.
