It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our former colleague, equity partner, and Managing Partner, Michael Brendan Foody, who passed away on Thursday, 6 August 2026.

Brendan was a titan of the Yorkshire property market and an instrumental architect in shaping the firm we are today. Serving as the Managing Partner of Weatherall Green & Smith, Brendan spearheaded the landmark late-2003 merger with Sanderson Townend & Gilbert. His forward-thinking vision unified operations in Leeds & Manchester with those of Newcastle, Teesside & London, rapidly accelerating our footprint into a top-25 national surveying practice.

Those who worked alongside Brendan will remember him not just as an exceptionally skilled Chartered Surveyor, but as a dynamic leader, mentor, and dedicated champion of the Leeds business community. Beyond his immense professional contributions, his warmth, corporate leadership, and legendary passion as a supporter of Leeds United brought people together across the region. He leaves behind an enduring legacy within our firm and the wider UK property industry.

Our deepest condolences, thoughts, and support go out to his partner, Marnie, and the entire Foody family during this incredibly difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, and in alignment with Brendan’s wishes, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to Caring for Life or Take Heart at Leeds General Infirmary, two local charities whose impactful work Brendan deeply admired and respected.
