Popular food chain, German Doner Kebab opened its doors in Newcastle this week in a primely located unit on Newgate Street.
The restaurant specialises in delicious healthy kebabs and after opening in Berlin in 1989, now has over 90 restaurants around the world.
Our North East retail agency team acted on behalf of McAleer & Rushe, who recently completed the full redevelopment of the former Newgate Shopping Centre, a scheme we’ve been a part of since it’s inception.
The restaurant is the chain’s first in the city and has helped create 50 new jobs and comes as the German chain announces plans to open another 47 restaurants across the UK this year.
Mark Convery, North East Retail agent commented ” German Doner Kebab are a fantastic tenant to have secured for this unit and we’re delighted to welcome them to Newgate Street. After opening the doors earlier this week it’s great to see that trade is already booming.
The market experienced an inevitable downturn over the past couple of years but this letting, amongst others signifies the returning strength of the Newcastle market as we continue to see high levels of interest for city centre properties.”
German Doner Kebab will occupy Unit 2B Newgate Street, a 3,000 sq ft space primely located beneath Unite Students Accommodation.
A spokeswoman for The DS Group, the franchise partner for German Doner Kebab Newcastle, said: “Customers can expect a contemporary, industrial look, our unique restaurant reflects our unique approach to kebabs.
“Our tried and tested methods bring a gourmet dining experience to Newcastle. We hope German Doner Kebab will offer families and groups of friends something new and different – delicious, fresh, healthy kebabs, with something on the menu for everyone to enjoy. We’ve been looking for a site in Newcastle for a while now, and the Newgate Street location is a perfect fit.”
