Joined up thinking facilitates multi-million pound settlement for Leacy Classics

We have recently secured a compulsory purchase settlement with Birmingham City Council on behalf of classic car parts supplier Leacy Classics.

Leacy Classics have been manufacturing and distributing classic British car parts to both the trade and retail markets for over 35 years, most recently from their base on Aston Lane, Perry Barr.

The distribution warehouse is located on part of the Transport hub which is being built to accommodate the 2021 Commonwealth Games so Leacy have been required to relocate their operations.

The compensation arises from the Birmingham City (Perry Barr – Commonwealth Games Athletic Village and Legacy) Compulsory Purchase Order 2018. The major regeneration scheme focuses on changes to residential and commercial premises, an update to Perry Barr Rail Station and a Commonwealth Games Village, which will be used to accommodate around 6,500 athletes and officials.

Sanderson Weatherall acted on behalf of Leacy Classics and were able to draw on their multi-skilled approach to provide a complete service. This included their Birmingham team completing a property valuation to agree the capital value of the warehouse, assistance in the identification of relocation premises as well as their national CPO team providing strategic advice on the Compulsory Purchase submission of the compensation claim and negotiating the final settlement.
