Instructed on behalf of a furniture retailer and distributor with a 9,000 square metre warehouse near Manchester, following investigations into the age of the buildings and consideration of site specific disadvantages including poor loading provisions and layout issues we entered into discussions with the VOA at Challenge stage.

The case subsequently centred around the weighting of evidence and, in particular, the relevance of the rent paid by our client. Following an Appeal to the Valuation Tribunal, we were able to reach agreement via Consent Order, resulting in a 34% reduction in the original assessment and savings of £235,000 in total for our client.
