Acting on behalf of a national retailer we are instructed to review the rateable values of over 400 properties. As part of this instruction, we were made aware of a store that was experiencing reduced takings due to a scheme of works occurring to the public realm directly outside the property (Material Change of Circumstances).

A Check/Challenge was lodged to the VOA detailing the effects the scheme of work was having on the property, specifically a reduction in turnover caused by the scheme.

As a result of our submission, we successfully reduced the client’s rates liability at the property for the period of the works.
