Emily Higginbottom, Surveyor in our Leeds Machinery & Business Assets team and her colleagues at the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) recently arranged a food collection for donation to local foodbanks.
Emily is Communications Chair of the Yorkshire & North East division of the IWIRC whom as part of their 30th anniversary asked committees to organise a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) day. The committee decided to volunteer at Leeds South & East Foodbank however the volunteering day was cancelled by the foodbank as, there simply was not enough food to be sorted.
This is what ignited the idea by Emily and the IWIRC Yorkshire & North East Sub-committee “We were all really saddened when we found out the reason why our volunteering day had been cancelled but we were determined to find another way to help to support this fantastic charity. So we decided to ask for donations from our own colleagues and the wider insolvency and restructuring community in Leeds & the North East. We were overwhelmed by the response with eight offices taking part.”
The team delivered three car loads of donations to the foodbank yesterday which totalled 644kg and equates to 1,533 meals.
Very well done to all involved!
