Energy Performance Certificates on property portfolio of Stockton Borough Council

We were instructed by Stockton Borough Council to undertake and produce Energy Performance Certificates on their property portfolio within Stockton-on-Tees. The properties were a combination of office, leisure and commercial within various different areas surrounding Stockton and Middlesbrough including Billingham Forum, The Georgian Theatre, Thornaby Pavilion & Pool and a number of community centres.

We initially undertook inspections of each of the properties recording all relevant data needed to produce an EPC. This included property type, date of construction, levels of insulation, windows and door types, types of lighting and heating systems. Following this we then took measurements throughout and divided the building into zones, establishing the building fabric and it’s services.

Once we had collated this information and entered it into the software, it then allowed us to understand how the buildings performed and what elements were underperforming.

Consequently, we were able to advise our client and give recommendations on areas of improvements that we thought would be most beneficial, to better the energy rating alongside potential savings.

Our building consultancy team were able to produce and lodge 60 EPC’s over the course of two months and are now working to provide bespoke reports, identifying upgrades that the client can implement to improve their existing buildings, in order to be compliant with the constantly evolving Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES).
