Our specialist holiday and caravan park team have sold Humberston Fitties, a historic and iconic coastal chalet park situated just 3 miles south of popular seaside resort, Cleethorpes.
Our team were instructed by North East Lincolnshire Council to sell the 320 unit chalet park that has been within local authority ownership since 1938.
Throughout the First World War the land was used to temporarily house soldiers stationed in the nearby Haile Sands Fort. After the war, the soldiers were replaced by holidaymakers who stayed on the site in their tents, buses and caravans, before development of the site into the chalet park that is present today.
In 1996 the Fitties was declared a conservation area to help preserve the sites unique historic interest.
Adam Burkinshaw, holiday and caravan park expert in our York office commented on the sale, “The sale of the Humberston Fitties chalet park provides the purchaser with extensive active management opportunities to invest in the park and to engage with existing tenants to renew expired leases.
“This opportunity attracted a great deal of interest, including both community groups and existing operators in the wider holiday park market. Following a competitive bidding process, with multiple offers received above the £1.5million asking price, the park was sold to Tingdene Holiday Parks Limited, a national holiday park operator.
“It was important to our clients that the parks history was maintained and Tingdene demonstrated how they would provide a long term sustainable plan and intend to provide further investment in The Fitties to benefit existing chalet owners and establish a secure future for the park.”
