Strong quarter for Leeds office market puts take-up above ten year average

Despite the uncertain political and economic climate, the Leeds office market continues to perform with another strong quarter, putting take-up figures well above the ten year average.

Total Leeds office market take-up in the third quarter of 2019 reached 233,925 sq ft.

142,915 sq ft of office space was taken in the city centre, across 33 deals. The largest deal of the quarter saw IT and business consultancy BJSS take a ten-year lease of 30,492 sq ft across three floors at 1 Whitehall Quay. Other significant deals include the freehold sale of 26,000 sq ft Kidd House on Whitehall Road to Versa Studios and the 12,496 sq ft letting at Park Row House to Red Kite Games Ltd. Channel 4 also agreed a one-year lease of 11,700 sq ft at Bruntwood’s Westgate ahead of its highly anticipated move to Majestic.

The out of town market picked up from last’s quarters subdued activity, with 91,010 sq ft of take up across 27 deals. The largest deal was Shark Ninja’s letting of 16,021 sq ft at 2150 Thorpe Park.

“Demand and occupier activity in the Leeds city centre office market continues to be robust with take-up over the year to date already at 578,574 sq ft which is well above the the 10-year annual average of 560,930 sq ft.”
