People may tell you that you cannot sell your house at Christmas but this is not necessarily the case. Sales and letting expert in our Leeds office, Diana Warr explores this issue further and looks at why considering moving house at Christmas isn’t such a terrible idea after all.
There is much speculation and crystal ball gazing surrounding the best time of the year to put your property on the market but unfortunately, it is not always an exact science. The best time to sell is affected by a number of factors; market demand, location and of course the property itself so don’t feel disheartened if you’ve heard the all too common words ‘now is not a good time to sell’.
“While traditionally December and early January have been the ‘slower’ month it is becoming one of the busiest times for traffic on property portals such as Rightmove. We find that when people are spending time with their family and close friends they use it to think about the year ahead and begin to consider their options.
“Whether you are considering moving house, renting in the city centre or perhaps you’re interested in available investment opportunities we would advise using the ‘free’ time that you have over the Christmas period to do your research. Suss out what else is on the market and you never know you might even find that these ‘slower’ months are the perfect time to complete your move.”
