Earlier this week (Tuesday 18th September) we attended the 12th annual ‘Best of the Best Student Awards Dinner’ which was held at Claridge’s, a 5-star hotel at the corner of Brook Street and Davies Street in Mayfair, London.
As part of her role of Women in Property (WIP) chairman Jo Williams, partner in our Bristol office was fortunate enough to be asked to prepare a speech to the event that was attended by a number of the property industry’s most influential individuals.
We were delighted to take a table, comprising of property experts from across our offices and a few key clients, in support of the event, and support of Jo.
The National Student Awards seek out the best and the brightest Built Environment students across the UK. Over the past 12 years, over 1000 students have been through the programme which explores their coursework, tests their industry knowledge and pushes them to develop their interpersonal skills.
There were several incredible regional finalists for the Best of the Best award but there could only be one winner. Congratulations Katie McManus who studies real estate at Sheffield Hallam.
Commenting on the event, Jo commented, “The Best of the Best awards are always one of the standout events in the Women In Property calendar and this year definitely lived up to the high standards.
“It was great to be able to speak in front of many of my peers and I was honoured to be able to present the Best of the Best award to Katie. Katie answered all the questions asked of her and more, showing a knowledge of topical issues such as the gender pay gap, diversity, and LGBT. She knew all about building her network and even talked about how she’d stalked us judges on LinkedIn! We all agreed that Katie possessed great ambassador material and we all the judges felt that we’d love her as part of our team, and thought she’d be great fun to go for a drink with!”
