Our North East agency team has been appointed as letting agent to market 37 retail units at Hebburn Shopping Centre.
We sold the site on behalf of previous owner Asda earlier this year. The shopping Centre, based on Station Road, Hebburn, is currently undergoing a £2.4m refurbishment to create a better environment for both retailers and shoppers.
South Tyneside is the freeholders of the 2.01 acre site, which was recently acquired by a consortium from the region through chartered surveyors and estate agents Bradley Hall, with assistance from financial advisers KSM Associates and Gordon Brown Law Firm LLP.
The shopping centre will be rebranded to The Mountbatten Shopping Centre, named after Lord Mountbatten, who commanded the famous Hebburn-built destroyer HMS Kelly during the Second World War.
Situated in the heart of Hebburn on the junction of Station Road and Victoria Road West, the centre benefits from a mixture of national and local retailers. National stores including Herons Frozen Foods, Boots and Subway currently occupy the units, with local businesses including hairdressers, laundrettes and newsagents also trading from the site.
Kevin McGorie, partner in our agency department, said: “Hebburn is an area of significant redevelopment, therefore the investment into the shopping centre will not only create an attractive area for retailers and the general public, but also provide considerable job and business opportunities.
“Having been involved in the successful sale of the centre, we are very much looking forward to being able to bring a variety of new business to help reinvigorate the region.”
