The Government has announced several funding initiatives open to certain business in England following the announcement of the Lockdown on 5 January 2021.
The Closed Business Lockdown Payment (CBLP) has been provided to deliver a one-off payment to businesses required to close due to national restrictions.
The businesses mandated to close include non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality businesses.
The CBLP provides for the following:
Business Property Rateable Value | One-off payment (per property) |
< £15,000 RV | £4,000 |
£15,000 RV – £51,000 RV | £6,000 |
>£51,000 RV | £9,000 |
This scheme takes effect alongside other grants such as the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) which business may also be eligible for with effect from 5 January 2021. Businesses may have also received Local Restrictions Support Grants in 2020 depending on which Tier they were in.
Local Authorities have been given discretion as to the payment of these grants – some Authorities may require full applications from business whereas other Local Authorities may use the lists they already have from previous grant payments and pay these 2021 grants automatically.
At the time of writing the position is still a little unclear and if you require any advice as to whether your business qualifies for the grants above please contact
Should you require advice, please contact your local business rates contact.
