Surveyors in our Leeds office recently came together to provide a local homeless charity with a generous donation of clothes, toiletries and food.
St George’s Crypt is based in Leeds city centre and offers support for the homeless, disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Leeds and the surrounding areas.
The charity, located in St George’s Church, began over 85 years ago when the church’s crypt was opened as a shelter during the 1930s economic depression. St George’s Crypt now runs two hostels, charity shops and the crypt itself offers people a chance to get a hot meal, shower and overnight accommodation.
The collection of items was arranged by Louise Wagstaff in our accounts team and donations included jumpers, hats, gloves, deodorants, shower gels, chocolates and a selection of non-perishable food items for use in the kitchen.
Louise visited the centre to take them the donation and said: “St George’s Crypt is a local charity that does a massive amount to help support the homeless in Leeds and the neighbouring towns and we were pleased to help with our donation.
“We received a large number of items from the team in Leeds and I would like to thank everyone for their generosity. I was lucky enough to be shown around St George’s Crypt earlier this week and it was brilliant to meet the incredible volunteers, hear their stories and to see the fantastic work that goes on.”
