Kevin McGorie / 19 Nov, 20

Initial plans been released for the proposed redevelopment of Strawberry Place which is set to comprise the creation of four blocks providing Grade A offices, a 200 bed Radisson Red Hotel, shops and housing, including a 21-storey tower with more than 300 residential apartments.

Currently only 1.5% of total city centre stock is Grade A (c 150,000sq ft) within Newcastle so One St James’ will help to satisfy further demand with an addition of 136,000sq ft Grade A offices.

The 12-storey building includes nine floors of large flexible floorplates approximately 12,700sq ft each and will feature a distinct glass façade, boasting panoramic views across the city.

Kevin McGorie, head of Sanderson Weatherall’s North East agency team commented, “The North East remains one of the UK’s fastest growing economies and the Strawberry Place development provides a fantastic opportunity for businesses to occupy high quality office space within the regions capital.

“We’re delighted to have been appointed on such a cutting edge development, the likes of which is quite rare to find outside of London. There’s a real appetite for quality modern offices in Newcastle and the flexibility of the large floorplates at One St James’ is already generating a large amount of interest.”
