The Department for Education (DfE) recently published their guidance for this year’s bidding round for the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF). The guidance can be viewed here.
Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) is an annual bidding facility which aims to maintain and improve school buildings’ safety and good condition through the provision of Capital Funding. This is open to Academies, Sixth-Forms, Free Schools and Multi-Academy Trusts.
The fund’s main focus is on providing support for projects that ensure school buildings are kept in good condition and that a safe environment is maintained at all times. There is the potential for a small proportion of expansion projects but ultimately the fund is designed for projects which will address health and safety and building compliance issues.
CIF Funding typically supports projects with the replacement of high priority components such as boilers and electrical systems, fire doors and alarms, roof and windows and asbestos removal.
For ease of reference, included in the table below is the CIF policy priorities (Highest to Medium). It is unlikely that funding will be available for projects that fall into the low and lowest categories, and therefore they are not referenced below.
