Our rating team was instructed to carry out a Historic rate audit for all the properties in CVS UK Ltd’s portfolio.
We identified that the client had continued to pay occupied rates on 28 Castle Street, Farnham which was vacant. They had ceased to trade on the 22nd October 2004. We negotiated with the Billing Authority, Waverley District Council, and they amended the charges an issued revised demands showing vacant charges from this date.
28 Castle Street is a listed building and so is exempt from empty rates. Our actions recovered £14,495 in overpaid rates for the clients.
